DIY: Fall Pillows

I love these pillows and have them set around all over my living room! They are super easy and only cost about $10 each (including the pillow)! I love this project because once I am done with fall and ready to set up all my Christmas decor I can switch out the pillowcases for new ones! It's so much easier storing four pillowcases in the garage than four 18" X 18" pillows! And yes, there will be a Christmas version of this project in December!

I ordered these pillows from Amazon and they fit the pillowcases perfectly! I had my mom pick up the linen pillowcases from Hobby Lobby in Texas, but you can get them from most craft/sewing stores! The paint and paint pens can be any color you like to make the pillows your own!

Happy crafting! Maybe make these as a host's gift for Thanksgiving!

Love you lots,

Evin's got a brand new bag!

I went simple with my outfit today because I wanted to show off my brand new Kate Spade bag! I got it during their last big sale and have been obsessed ever since it came in the mail! It's a great structured piece and I love the croco finish. I never imagined myself carrying around a green purse, but this dark forest green color is incredible! I'm also loving burgundy so I might be adding one of those to my collection pretty soon!

Since this bag was in the sale, I've had some trouble finding an exact match now that it's over. I did, however, find a bunch of similar bags for you to choose from ranging in every price point. Plus, a similar-colored Kate Spade bag! I can't wait to wear this bag to all my holiday parties!!

I love this outfit and plan to carry it quite a bit in the coming months. So I hope you don't mind seeing it in a few upcoming posts. Maybe more than a few. ;)

Love you lots,

P.S. Sorry for posting so late in the day. I lost my memory card, which held today's intended post. So I scrambled to make this one happen! However, check back tomorrow for a Fall DIY project!

Lower Body Cardio Workout!

We have missed a few Mondays now and I am really sorry! The last few weeks have been crazy and I have been recovering from a nasty bout of tendonitis and I figured no one was interested in watching me do physical therapy stretches. That would have been a couple of very boring videos!

But we are back and have some great stuff planned for this month! I can't wait for you to see it all!

This workout was great! Lot's of legs and booty burning, plus the added cardio really got the endorphins pumping. I was craving a good workout after all the stretching and not doing cardio was making me feel a little sluggish! So this is a great way to jump start the week!

Happy exercising and remember to stay hydrated!!!

#TBT: Playing in the Leaves

Similar Sweater || J. Crew Jeans ||  Joan & David Sterla Boots (similar, similar, similar) ||
Forever 21 studs || Scarf options here, here & here || LOFT Sunnies ||
Forever 21 necklaces here & here || Similar bag ||

For this throwback Thursday, I'm not posting old pictures or reminiscing, but I am using clothes in my closet that I've owned for a while to recreate a new look. Buying clothes just to wear them once is expensive and super wasteful, but wearing old clothes and looking out of date is not an option. So what's a girl to do? I wake up all the time and think, "Well, I guess I need to go shopping because there's nothing to wear here." But unless you're a model, movie star or friends with the right people updating your wardrobe every week isn't an option. I wrote a post a few months ago about shopping your closet, so I decided to take my own advice and throwback to older pieces that still look great and create this fall look, which I was really happy with!

Plus! Since fashion is so cyclical and because these pieces are only from last fall (the glasses are only two months old and already off the website!) I was able to find almost identical pieces for each one! These boots are some of my favorites and were a Christmas present from my parents. They are two years old and look brand new! They were a little expensive when I added them to my wish list, but that just goes to show that quality is worth the money! There are a few pairs available on Tradesy (a site that I love!) if you fall in love with this exact pair, plus since they are on the older side they much more affordable now!

Hope you're playing in the leaves!

Love you lots,

What to Wear Wednesday!

Sometimes I just wake up and have no idea what to wear. I have a closet full of clothes, but no inspiration for what to pair together! To keep this from happening over and over I've built some outfits that I love to inspire me! A lot of these pieces are on sale and all of them would be great to add to your fall and winter wardrobe! Because winter is coming!
 One || Two || Three || Four || Five
This is a really cute and casual look. Obviously, everyone is obsessed with blanket scarfs again this season so with an accessory that bold I keep everything else pretty simple. You can't go wrong with a camel-colored sweater and I love light jeans in the fall to keep your outfit from looking too heavy! I saw one of these Big Buddha bags in Vegas last spring and I still think it's a really cool piece. So I thought I would include it here for you all to see!

This outfit is a little girly, but has some added edge thanks to the booties. I love this dress because it takes a floral and adds fall shades. It's starting to get cold and I've always been obsessed with jackets. This one in a light gray would literally go with everything and it's under $100 right now!! The tights are totally optional, but if it's cold outside you can add them for an extra layer of warmth.

These teddy bear jackets are everywhere! They look so cozy and warm and I love that this one is color blocked with monochromatic colors. I own this tunic in a dark green, but I love teal for the winter! It's a great piece to throw on with jeans and go, plus it's on sale so I totally recommend it! I've been looking for a pair of taupe lace up booties and these ones are really cute and under $50!

I hope this "What to Wear Wednesday" has given you a little bit of outfit inspiration!

Let me know which outfit you like best!

Rainy Day Blues!

I fell asleep to the rain and woke up to a cloudy day. From the moment my head hit my pillow I was so excited because I knew it was time to break out my wellies! Since there's been a drought my poor rain boots have been stashed in the hall closet, but today they get to shine.

Blue is my favorite color so it was obvious to me to wear this gingham shirt that I love with my navy rain boots and my favorite pair of jeans. However, I didn't want to be all blue and it was a little chilly so I added my favorite Herringbone vest! Mine is black, but the dark gray version is still for sale! I'm not always for mixing prints, but this vest really works like a neutral when you need it to.

Of course, to finish off this preppy look I needed a statement necklace and a pop of Kate Spade on my ears. Then I grabbed this Poverty Flats bag on the way out the door. Honestly, it was already packed from the weekend and so that's why it got to make an appearance. I am terrible at switching out my handbags! Anyone else have that problem?

Even though it's a rainy day, spread some sunlight around!

Pumpkin Seeds!

Pumpkin Seeds are one of my favorite snacks. They're healthier than chips, but still give you a good crunchy and salty snack to curb any craving that you have. I always make savory pumpkin seeds (this post will show you three versions), but I've seen other people do pumpkin pie flavors, salted caramel, and cinnamon sugar so it just goes to show that you can really do anything with these little seeds! I always make these on Halloween right after I carve my pumpkin, but you can buy raw pumpkins seeds to add your own seasonings to or you can use the pumpkin to make a pie or soup!
Make your favorite variety and share them with your friends!

Step 1: Scoop everything out of your pumpkin. It's gross and takes some arm muscle, but it has to be done. I put everything I scoop out into a huge bowl or a pot. Then I pick out all the seeds. Once again this is quite a process and not much fun, but you don't want the junk from inside the pumpkin to mix in with your seeds. Once you separate them this is what they'll look like!

Step 2: Now you'll want to clean the seeds and get off any of the excess pumpkin goo. Pour all of the seeds into a strainer and rinse until all the slimy stuff is gone! You might need to pick out some of the orange pieces by hand.

Step 3: Put a layer or two of paper towels or a dish towel on a baking sheet. Pour the clean pumpkin seeds onto the towel and spread them out so that there is only one layer. Leave them to dry. I covered the top with another towel and let them dry overnight.

Step 4: Once the seeds are dry put them all into a small bowl and pour in a tiny amount of olive oil. About 1/2 tsp, but that depends on how many seeds you get out of the pumpkin. You want them to all be lightly coated and shiny, but there shouldn't be any extra in the bottom of the bowl.

Step 4: Then sprinkle in some salt. I prefer to use sea salt, but could only find Kosher in my cabinets. Again this is just about 1/2 tsp, but you want enough to lightly coat them. This is just to taste. If you prefer them not to be salted then you can skip this step.

Step 5: Stir the bowl so that all the seeds are shiny and have a little bit of salt stuck to them.

Step 6: Put your pumpkin seeds back onto the baking sheet. This time line it with some tin foil, parchment paper, or a Silpat. Bake them for about 30 min at 350 degrees Fahrenheit. You want them to be crunchy when you take them out. Larger seeds might take longer, but the smaller seeds can burn if they're cooked too long.

Step 7: I divided the seeds into three bags and added seasonings to each. I wanted a little variety in my snacking. The first and my favorite are the spicy ones. I added a sprinkling of salt, 1 tsp chili powder and 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper. The chili powder gives them a smoky taste and the cayenne pepper adds the spiciness. If you love the heat add more pepper, if you don't leave it out completely!

The second is a garlic blend. I love garlic so I found these to be really tasty. Add 1 tsp garlic powder, 1/2 tsp garlic salt and 1/2 tsp lemon pepper. I like the contrast of the lemon pepper with the garlic salt and I use the two in a lot of my cooking.

The third bag was KB's favorite. I was inspired to make these because I love Sea Salt/Black Pepper chips. I poured in 1/2 tsp salt (mine were already salted so I didn't want to get crazy) and then I added enough pepper that each seed looked speckled.

Step 8: Shake up the bags so that the seasoning is evenly distributed and the seeds are coated. Then they are ready to serve!!

Love you lots,

P.S. This is what I did with the leftover pumpkin!
