Black Friday Shopping List

It is officially one of the biggest shopping days of the year! While I'm not rushing out to stand in lines and stay out all night searching for deals, I have been browsing online looking for the best money-savers. I love the Nordstrom sale right now and will probably make a trip to their store this weekend! They've restocked a few fall favorites and marked them down!! I also always love J. Crew Factory and with 50% off everything and free shipping after $50, you can't help but buy gifts for everyone on your list! I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving with your loved ones!

Post-Thanksgiving Calorie Burn

If you are like me you're getting ready to (or already have) consumed more food than you imagined possible and really enjoyed it. But post-dinner you might be in a food coma an you're probably a little uncomfortable. It happens every year, but I am determined to be comfortable when I go to bed tonight! Enter: this workout.

A little cardio after dinner (give yourself some time to digest) will give your metabolism a little boost and starting burning all those extra calories that you just enjoyed. This is a pretty brutal kickboxing-esque workout, but you'll feel great afterwards! Plus, it might help with some of that post-pie guilt. I know I'm going to have that for sure.

Happy Thanksgiving!!

My Favorite Thanksgiving Dish

It wouldn't be Thanksgiving without a green bean casserole on the table! It is the one thing that I look forward to all year. My mom makes it and when I started dating KB I told him he had to try it! He, of course, loved it and helped me with this recipe. If you want to make the version I grew up with then buy two cans of Campbell's Cream of Mushroom soup, a can of french cut green beans and a container of French's Fried Onions (the recipe is on the onions!). However, I was outside a Trader Joe's when I decided to make this for the blog so that recipe turned into a slightly modified and super tasty version!

What you'll need:

  • 1 pound fresh green beans
  • 1 can of French Fried Onions
  • 2 boxes of cream of mushroom soup
  • 2 medium or 1 large leek(s)
  • 3 cloves Garlic (not pictured)
  • Cheese (optional)
  • Garlic Salt
  • Black Pepper
  • Crushed Red Pepper
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Cut the leeks into medium size pieces and toss them into an 8" X 8" casserole dish.

Mince the garlic and set aside.

Put one pound of green beans into a Ziploc Steamer bag. These bags are the most amazing thing in the world and I cannot recommend them enough. However, if you can't find them, you can simply blanch the green beans in a pot of boiling water. Make sure they are well-drained before putting them in the casserole. Follow the directions on the bag to steam the green beans, it took about 4 minutes in my microwave.

Once the green beans are a bright green color and slightly cooled pour them into the casserole dish on top of the leeks. Spread them around with a wooden spoon or spatula until they make an even layer. Use a spoon because they will still be pretty hot!

Pour both boxes of the Cream of Mushroom soup into the casserole dish. Then sprinkle the garlic on top.

Using a spatula or wooden spoon fold all of the ingredients in the casserole dish until well-combined.

Sprinkle your spices (garlic salt, black pepper and crushed red pepper) over the top of the combined casserole. Then take about half of the french fried onions and sprinkle them over the top. Fold the entire mixture again until the seasonings and onions are distributed.

Now that it is all mixed up, use the spatula to pat your mixture down until it is flat and level all the way across the casserole dish. This will ensure even cooking!

Sprinkle the top with an even layer of the remaining fried onion pieces. If you choose to add cheese grate a layer over the top! (I don't add cheese, but KB loves it.)

Place your casserole in the oven for 15-20 minutes. You'll know it's done when it's a little bubbly, the cheese it melted and the onions are a darker color.

Enjoy!!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Neiman Marcus PopSugar Box!!

If you've followed along with my blog for a while you know that I really love PopSugar Must Have boxes. I always put aside a little savings in the fall so that I can order the Neiman Marcus box! It's always one of the best and you really can't beat the price for all the great goodies that come inside. It is pricey, don't get me wrong, but order this box and you can divide it up into Christmas presents for everyone you know! Plus, it's still available so if you fall in love you can order one of your own!

So let's dive in! This was by far the heaviest box I've received from PopSugar and I love everything that came inside!

I really like this palette! I can pack one thing for the holiday trips I have coming up and can create multiple looks for all occasions! I am in love with the neutral eyeshadow quad and plan to use it all the time in the coming weeks of holiday parties and family gatherings. It also doesn't hurt that the palette has a built in manual, so you can follow the steps and try a new dramatic look! However, one of the blushes is much more tangerine than it appears in the photo. I am not sure how it's going to wear, but I am willing to give it a chance.

I was unsure about these glasses and I might be giving them away as a Christmas gift, but the only reason for that is that they are pretty basic and not super stylish. However, the quality is amazing!! The lenses are glass and by Zeiss and the plastic is really heavy. The black frames are glossy, so they're a little different than some Quay ones I got in a previous PopSugar box. I am also super excited because it came with a lens cloth. I always lose them so getting a new one was great!

THESE ARE THE BEST THING I HAVE EVER TASTED!!! Just read how they describe them on the Vosges website: "Each bonbon is filled with creamy organic peanut butter, infused with pink Himalayan salt, and enrobed in rich chocolate for a velvety smooth finish, topped with a crunch of Maldon salt to bring out the beautiful organic peanut butter parfum." Now tell me you aren't drooling and craving chocolate! I have been rationing these since I opened them because I don't want to run out of them anytime soon!

This necklace is so pretty! I love the accents on the chain and the tassel is really pretty. It is kind of a strange length so I am still trying to figure out what top to wear it with, but I am really excited to see how it looks when I find the perfect outfit. The quality is amazing and it came in a beautiful box that would look amazing with a bow under your tree. Like I said this box is full of stuff that can be gifted to your loved ones!

I had no idea what this was going to be when I saw it in the box. I was super confused because I thought it was going to be more jewelry, but when I opened the box and saw this clock I was super excited! I love geodes and I'm kind of obsessed with geode coasters, but I will settle with a clock (only because I already have so many sets of coasters!). The color is super similar to this one, but they are all a little different because they're geodes, so each clock will be original and one-of-a-kind. Also, the clock piece pulls out and there's a picture frame underneath! I am working on finding the perfect tiny picture to put in it.

This is the reason why the box was so heavy. This Mela tray is really pretty and I can't get enough of the gray colors. The neutral colors made it really easy to decorate with and created the perfect place for the geode clock. I switched out a yellow tray with this one for the winter months and I think it looks amazing in our sitting area.

Deborah Lippmann, Pop of Life Set
I first tried Deborah Lippmann nail polishes last year after Christmas and it is now one of my favorite cosmetics brands. These three shades, Dark Side of the Moon, Stairway to Heaven, and A Fine Romance are great! The light pink has a beautiful pearl sheen to it! A Dark Side of the Moon is also a gorgeous shade that I can best describe as plum. I haven't tried it yet, but it's a great mix of purple and dark red. I can't wait to see how it tries. I don't make a habit of wearing glitter nail polish, but for the holidays it's a pretty fun choice!

Casual Thanksgiving Outfits under $100!

As promised in yesterday's post here are three more looks for Thanksgiving under $100. Yesterday's looks are something you'd wear to a Blair-Waldorf-style Thanksgiving. And as much fun as I would have dressing to the nines and attending a super formal dinner, it's not always the case. I think most people have more casual dinners, like my family, and you can still look super cute without getting to dressed up.

My family Thanksgivings traditions include lots of cooking, playing football and getting Christmas decorations out of the attic, so pants are necessary because I never turn down a game of football! Plus, I don't own an apron so cooking a pumpkin pie in a cream tapestry dress would be a nightmare!

Pumpkin Pie Protein Shakes!!

I love starting my day with a protein shake! It's a super filling and healthy breakfast! Since it's almost Thanksgiving and Pumpkin Pie is a staple at my house this time of year, I wanted to make a healthy protein-packed version! I liked this much more than a super-sweet latte, plus you can make it at home and take it with you when you are on the go!!

Hope you enjoy it!

Snow Day in Tahoe!!

I never turn down a getaway, especially one to the mountains! I wasn't expecting it to snow, but when I woke up snow was falling and it didn't slow down all day. There's nothing better than fresh powder on the ground!! It's so quiet and so beautiful! And now I can't wait for Christmas!!

I am sure you've seen similar vests all over Pinterest. When I saw it on Etsy, I knew I wanted it in my closet for trips to the mountain just like this one! I did some price comparing and when I purchased this one it was the cheapest I could find. I am wearing a size small and there's a lot of extra bulk so keep that in mind when ordering because you can't return it! This vest is faux fur and very soft! Plus, everything is better with a monogram!

These boots are still available and they are on sale! I wear them all the time and couldn't recommend them more. I plan to wear them until it's too warm in the spring to wear them any longer. If you plan to wear them in the snow make sure you apply a suede protector first!!

Hope you get to play in the snow soon!!

Love you lots,
