Friday Fashion Flashback!

Tops: Free People Turtleneck Tank || Zara Tie Neck Top || Zara Crochet Top
Bottoms: Topshop Suede Skirt || Classic 501 Jeans || Denim Plaid Skirt
Dresses: Mock Turtleneck Dress || Sweater Dress || Suede Army Dress
Shoes: Topshop Clogs || Vince Booties || Strappy Sandals
Accessories: Fringe Purse || Multi-Ring Set || Floppy Hat

Fashion is all about the flashback and making the old new again! I love that '70s fashion is back and so popular. I'm not planning on wearing any bell bottoms anytime soon, but incorporating a few fun throwback pieces with some newer styles is a great way to add something special to any outfit! I love the white crochet-edged top and have been shopping around for one to wear with my suede skirt!

I also love the collared dress look! This dress is layered, but there are so many long sleeve styles with the collar attached! Plus, this mustard (and all things deep red for that matter) are so popular! Both are great for Fall! (Check out those links for more pieces in those colors!)

If you aren't crazy about turtlenecks, plaid, or suede (picky, picky, picky), try some funky stone jewelry or the super popular fringe bag (another great option)! Both are great ways to try out the '70s without rocking some super wide leg pants or a flashy pair of gogo boots!

Make a point to spread some sunlight today and maybe watch an episode of That '70s Show for more inspiration!!

Just a Casual Day!

Two outfit posts in a row with the same booties! Last time I wore them dressed up with my favorite dress, but today I wanted to try them out with a much more casual vibe.

I've been searching for a pair of booties like this for a few years. I keep finding ones I like and then when I get around to buying them they are always sold out in my size! So when I found these at Nordstrom Rack, I decided to just go ahead and add them to my Fall/Winter boot collection. And I am so glad that I did! They're super comfortable and, as you've seen, crazy versatile! I plan to wear these all Fall, so get ready to see them quite a bit!

I also really love this shirt. It's super easy to just throw on and go with jeans or if you want to be super comfy it's long enough for leggings! Which is an outfit I plan to wear next time that I am on a flight. It's crazy soft and the light gray color will go with just about everything in my closet!

I didn't want to be too casual, so to add a little color and finish I added a pop of color on my lips. I've loved this hot pink color all Summer and since it's almost time to put it away until next spring I wanted to get a few more wears out of it.

Make sure you spread some sunlight on this beautiful hump day!

Love you lots,

Dinner two ways!

I haven't done a lot of cooking lately, but the other night I made dinner for KB and it was soooo good! Does Lemon Garlic and Rosemary Shrimp sound like something you'd be interested in? Read on my friend!

I made the shrimp and then when I plated it, I came up with two different options. KB loves pasta and I am no as much of a fan, so I made his on a nest of pasta (whole wheat, sorry babe!) and then I sautéed some spinach and put the shrimp on top for me!

What you will need:
One large lemon
One pound shrimp (We had leftovers!)
Eight cloves garlic
1 tbsp rosemary (I used dried, but I recommend fresh)
Olive oil

Option 1:
Whole wheat pasta
Olive oil
Sea Salt

Option 2:
Spinach
Garlic powder
1/4 lemon

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Start my coating the bottom of your baking dish with olive oil. Then zest a your lemon into the bottom of the dish. When the oven is hot, put your baking dish in so that the oil heats up and the lemon zest starts to cook. This will allow the flavors to combine.

While that's cooking, slice up your garlic and prep your shrimp. You want the shrimp to be peeled and deveined before you put them into the oven, I bought mine ready to cook, so I skipped that step. (Honestly, it really grosses me out. I will gladly pay extra so that I don't have to peel and devein!) You will also want to thinly slice half of your lemon and quarter the other side.

Once everything is prepped, take your baking dish out of the oven and add your garlic, shrimp and rosemary. Toss all of it in the dish and then pour it into a medium sized bowl. Take your lemon slices and line the bottom of your baking dish evenly. It took about nine slices for my square dish. Then pour your garlic and shrimp mixture back in, on top of the lemons. Return to the oven until your shrimp are cooked through and pink!

For the Pasta:
Boil water in a pot, add in olive oil and a pinch of salt to keep the pasta from sticking together and cook to desired consistency. I like my pasta al dente, so it doesn't take to long!

For the Spinach:
In a large skillet, sprinkle the bottom with some olive oil and add your spinach. Sprinkle the top with about 1 tsp of garlic powder and squeeze half of you leftover lemon. Then turn on the heat and toss in the pan until the spinach is wilted and a bright green color.

Cooking Notes:
  • I used a lot of garlic because it's basically my favorite food, but if you aren't too keen about eight cloves just use less and make it to your taste.
  • I also used frozen shrimp because it was a cheaper option and I wasn't sure how this dish would turn out. Now that I know we both liked it I will buy better, fresh shrimp! I think the presentation will look amazing when the shrimp are bigger.
  • Use the rest of your lemon to add a little extra zing, by squeezing it over the pasta right before you serve it.
  • KB added shredded parmesan to the top and said it was a good addition!

Bon appetit!

JUMP, JUMP, JUMP!

I am so excited about this workout video because for the first time I actually created the workout! Whenever I wake up with a lot of energy and want to get a quick workout in, I head out to the garage and do this nine minute interval workout! A friend requested that Matt and I do a jump rope workout next and I knew exactly what I wanted to do! I talked to Matt to get the professional opinion on my creation, he ok'ed it and here we are!

It's really tough, your legs WILL burn (and maybe tremble at the end), and you're going to be sore the next day! I definitely was! But don't let me scare you off, it really is an awesome way to get your cardio and some strength in, in a short time!

Drink water. Have fun! And most of all don't give up!

Transitioning to Fall!

Dress (similar) || Scarf (old) (similar here and here) || Bag || Booties
Watch || Bracelets (one, two, three) || Ring || Sunnies

I've worn this dress all summer and I love it! It is so easy to style because it looks good with just about everything! I bought it at Nordstrom, but can't seem to find it on their website! I promise that I will keep searching and keep you updated if I find it!

As you have probably noticed, I am transitioning into my fall wardrobe and I am so excited. It might be a little early and I'm not packing my shorts and white eyelet dresses away yet, but I am ready for a change. Sweater, scarves and boots, yay! However, I hate being cold, so I'm not sure why I am so excited for temperatures to drop!

I paired this rather summer-y dress with a pair of booties (just bought them last weekend!) and a scarf. It's the perfect trick for your transition outfits! Booties and a scarf are the cutest way to make your outfit seem a bit more season appropriate and a little back-to-school-esque!

Hope you are all having a lovely Friday! Don't forget to spread some sunlight!

Rock Blue All Fall!

The final three Fall 2015 Pantone swatches might just be my favorite! My favorite color is blue and I wear a lot of gray so the mixture of these three variations has me very excited to go shopping (like I'm never not excited to go shopping, but...)! Usually I wear a lot of neutrals, but I have been trying to broaden my spectrum (color pun, ha!) and I am swooning over Biscay Bay! I also think treating Stormy Weather as a neutral, even though it has a lot of blue in it, would be a really great way to wear two of these swatches at once!

One || Two || Three || Four || Five || Six || Seven || Eight ||
Nine || Ten || Eleven || Twelve || Thirteen || Fourteen || Fifteen

One || Two || Three || Four || Five || Six

One || Two || Three || Four || Five || Six || Seven || Eight
Nine || Ten || Eleven || Twelve || Thirteen || Fourteen

Which Pantone was your favorite? And which one are you most excited about adding to your closet?

If you missed the first seven check them out here and here

Fall Pantones to Wear Now

We are getting so close to Fall! It's only August, but the September issues are filling up the magazine stands and I am getting antsy for my new boots to get here in the mail. Every season I get so excited when Pantone releases its seasonal color palette and this fall there are ten swatches that you're going to be seeing everywhere! Looking through the Pantones always reminds me of this scene from my favorite movie ever,  The Devil Wears Prada:

So in an attempt to make sure my Fall color palette is ready for Miranda, I compiled quite a few pieces for each Pantone swatch. Obviously, some are closer to the swatches than others and I know that will drive all the Pantone snobs crazy out there, sorry! I am also aware that Hunter green is different than Dried Herbs and Oak Buff is not Mustard, but I can't help how the the stores choose to label their pieces!  Anyway these general color scheme will still help you prep your fall wardrobe and I can't wait to add a few of these pieces to my closet!

One || Two || Three || Four || Five || Six
Seven || Eight || Nine || Ten || Eleven

One || Two || Three || Four || Five || Six
Seven || Eight || Nine || Ten || Eleven || Twelve

 Eight || Nine || Ten || Eleven || Twelve || Thirteen

Check back tomorrow for the next four swatches!!

Red Lip Classic!

 Romper || Booties || Hat (Sold out of the Burgundy, but similar here & here) || Bag
 Sunnies (Mine are black) || Ring || Necklaces || Earrings || Lip || Nail Color

This weekend was ALL about Taylor Swift! I bought my ticket for the 1989 World Tour a little under a year ago and the date that's been marked in my planner all this time finally came! It was definitely one of the top five concerts I have ever been to! She even played my favorite song "New Romantics," which I was worried she wouldn't because it was only on the deluxe CD, but she did and it was AH-mazing!

I bought this romper during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale with this concert in mind. It was also the first time that I planned an outfit around my lip color because you have to wear a red lip to a Taylor concert! I love rompers for concerts because the shorts are great for jumping and dancing and there was lots of that!

Taylor has been one of my fashion idols for a long time and her wardrobe for the show was so cute! I've been working on ways to create similar outfits that are more appropriate for every day wear because we can't all wear an LED light up crop top/skirt combo or a gold sequin jump suit to work (if only!). If I find some cute alternatives, I will definitely share them here!

I am ashamed to say that this was my first Taylor Swift concert, but I am completely hooked and can't wait to go to another one!

Make sure you spread some sunlight today!

Lunching in Leopard

Top || Jeans || Bag || Shoes || Sunnies (ON SALE) || Necklace (in Gold) ||
Ring (vintage! Similar and Similar) || Cuff || Watch ||

This outfit is almost completely made up of Nordstrom Anniversary Sale items (4 of them) that I've been very impatient to wear. Seriously, these shoes have been sitting in the box on my dining room table since they came in the mail begging me to wear them! (Nope I don't actually eat at my dining room table...)

I absolutely love this tunic! I bought it in green for the sole purpose of planning for fall, but it comes in so many other colors! I will definitely be picking it up in white and maybe one more because it's a great layering piece, it's long enough to wear with leggings and boots, and I love the roll-tab sleeve! It's the perfect top to wear all year round and if that's not an investment piece (even though it's not too expensive), I don't know what is.

And while my necklace is a little hard to see in these photos it is one of my favorites right now. I've been switching between the one pictured above, my Kendra Scott Elisa necklace, and this shark tooth necklace (mine's silver). Two of those three being from my favorite place to pick up jewelry, Diament! I always visit their table at the Renegade Craft Fair when it comes to San Francisco and when I go to New York. I definitely recommend taking a browse through the site for really cute and unique pieces!

Oh and Happy Friday!

Love you tons,
