Fitness Goals in the New Year!

On the first of the month I posted a review of 2015 and in that post was a list of things I wanted to accomplish this year. One of those was to reach my fitness goals, which I admit was very, very vague. There is a reason to my vagueness, though, and that's because those goals have their own list! There are five things that I want to accomplish this year that fit into the fitness category and so I've turned them into their very own post! Here they are:

This one is super important to me. I started last spring drinking tons of water and that new found lifestyle lasted until about October. Then I fell off the band wagon and back into the dehydrated state that I started in. I am going to go back to drinking half my body weight (in ounces) every day. It's the best scale that I've found to stay hydrated and just feel better.

I have never been good with upper body strength. Like ever....
I can run for miles, squat, lunge, whatever, but when faced with a pull up bar I'm at a total loss. I workout often and I still can't do a pull up. It's rather frustrating. So this year is the year that I do an unassisted pull up! Yes, just one. I am not asking for too much, OK?

*Bonus: Being able to do a handstand would be pretty cool, too.*
Finishing my first half marathon last year was one of the coolest things I have ever experienced. I felt so accomplished and totally amazing for days after the race. I've been looking for a few others to try out this year, but fingers crossed that I win the lottery again and get to run the Nike Women's Half in San Francisco for the second time!

Bottom line: I don't stretch. I sit at a desk all day, my back is tense and unless I am warming up for a workout I never stretch. So this year I want to give it a try. Once a day (morning or evening) I am going to stretch my muscles and try my hardest to loosen them up. I might even try yoga, although I've never been a huge fan. I also need to foam roll more often to just rehab my body in general. So that's all going to be added to my daily to-do list.
This is vague and that's on purpose. I love new workouts. I tried a spin class for the first time last spring and I love it! I try to go every Monday night now. This year I'm thinking about trying a barre class or swimming, maybe both! I just want to see what else is out there to add to my weekly workout routine to keep things from getting boring!

What are some of your fitness goals this year? I'd love to hear some suggestions!

Love you lots,
