Five things to steal from your man…

…or shop for in the men’s section

Flannels (one. two. three.) || Camp Socks ||
Watches (one. two. three.) || Loafers (one. two. three.) ||

Flannels: If you’re like me your fall closet is stuffed with flannels, but to get the truly perfect, oversized look raid your guy’s closet! Tie it up at the waist, layer a mock turtle neck under it and wear it open, or belt it so you don’t lose your shape. It’s the perfect way to add a comfy fall layer. For an edgier look throw on a leather/faux leather legging or a coated jean underneath with some black booties. The length of the flannel will act like a shirtdress so you can channel some of the sportier looks from the AW16 runway. Looking for something more casual? Throw on your favorite medium wash jeans and an equally comfy duck boot for a weekend outdoors.

Camp Socks: It doesn’t get better than a cozy pair of camp socks straight from the dryer. My feet are always cold so warm winter socks are a must. My favorites have always been from the men’s section at J. Crew. Their camp socks are exclusively on my feet in the winter. I love the way they peek out over booties and they act as a great boot sock for riding boots. Shop the same look in the women’s section for better colors!

Watch: I mean, maybe don’t steal the watch right off his wrist, but wearing an extra one or buying yourself a menswear watch is something everyone should try. I love the chunkiness of a men’s watch especially with a sweater in the fall. It’s a balancing piece, but something that will always make you look super trendy. It’s not a new trick, but I’ve always noticed when someone wears a trendy timepiece. And to be clear we aren’t talking about some digital rubber watch, but a real analog accessory.

Loafers: So unless you and your guy have the same size feet this isn’t really a steal, but I’ve been absolutely obsessed with the loafer look. I actually just bought a pair of pink lace-up loafers from ASOS and I am so excited to get them in the mail! Wear them with a dress or skirt for a classic girly look or cuffed denim with a layered poplin shirt and sweater. It’s all about your own aesthetic, but a great pair of loafers can fit into any wardrobe!

Confidence!: I know… I know… Guys have self-confidence issues just like everyone, but my guy has never gotten dressed only to change clothes four or five times just to leave the house (a common occurrence for me). So steal that confidence! The “yeah this looks good” mentality that keeps him from spending five extra minutes analyzing everything in a full-length mirror. I mean check for the dreaded PL and make sure everything is covered, but own your first instinct and avoid the dreaded effect of looking over-styled.

Love you lots,
