Resort wear is one of my favorite seasons of clothing every year! The designer resort lines are so great this year! All the bright whites and prints that come out right after Christmas make me so excited for spring and summer. I have been doing quite a bit of traveling, but a tropical location isn't on the books at the moment. Unless, of course, I miraculously win a trip to Hawaii!! ;)

Now that the holidays are over I am ready to get in one more ski trip and then be done with the cold and the snow! I am so ready for white nail polishes, light pink lipsticks, and some great pinky cheeks! Not to mention a new bathing suit (after a bottle of St. Tropez!) and a great new swimsuit coverup!

I'm currently loving turquoise jewelry and can't wait to add some more to my spring collection. I've also been lusting after these MK Wedges for quite a while and now that they are on sale I love them even more! I'm finally adding some Tory Burch sandals to my closet and I am more than happy that espadrilles are still a hot item for the coming months! I love the details on this Ivanka Trump pair!

So while I am not spending money on any resort wear at the moment, these are the pieces that I would love to add to my closet! I can't wait to see what's coming to stores this spring!!

Are you buying any resort clothing this season?

Love you lots,

When the Mustard Blooms!

The mustard is in bloom in the Napa Valley and walking to lunch is gorgeous every day!

I love classic outfits! Between these menswear-inspired shoes and the quilted coat I can't think of a more classic combination. PLUS, if you need a new pair of sunnies I would recommend the new line at J. Crew. I grabbed these at the factory store, but the real store has so many great options! And while you're grabbing a new pair of sunglasses, these jeans are on sale right now! I wear them all the time and they're probably my favorite pair in my closet.

I added a quick scarf (it's only $12!!) to make the shoes pop and went about my day!

Love you lots,

Gray Skies and Gray Boots!

I'm a sucker for monograms and initial products so when I saw that this blanket wrap was on sale I couldn't help myself! I love wearing light gray! Even though I paired it with my favorite white tunic, gray can be paired with so many colors! My favorite combination that I've seen recently was a powder pink sweater paired with all gray accessories! It's currently my favorite neutral.

This season I fell in love with this style of boots. Obviously, the way to go is a pair of Stuart Weitzman, but if you can't drop $700 on one pair of boots Ivanka Trump came out with a great dupe!! Plus, when I finally got around to adding them to my closet I found them for under $70!!! I plan to wear these well into the spring! Plus, I am so excited to find tons of ways to style them. The quality isn't the same, but for that kind of savings I'm happy to get the same look for less! Maybe next season I'll splurge on a real pair!

It's cloudy again here in Napa, but that's all the more reason to spread some sunlight today!

Love you lots,

The Perfect Rainy Day!

So it's supposed to rain ALL weekend here in Napa and I know a large majority of the East Coast is getting huge snowstorms! That means it looks like we are all stuck inside this weekend...

We could be responsible and organize something, catch up on all of our laundry, meal prep for the week ahead. Orrrrrr you could plan the most amazing movie marathon to curl up on the couch with and RELAX! I've never really planned a movie marathon before, it kind of just happens clicking through Netflix. This weekend, however, I'm doing it right and planning it all out!

Pick your movies! Are you super ambitious and want to tackle the whole Harry Potter Series? Or would you rather pick an actor? I think an Anne Hathaway marathon would be so much fun (Princess Diaries (1&2), Devil Wears Prada, Bride Wars)! Or maybe even a Reese Witherspoon compilation (Both Legally Blondes, Sweet Home Alabama, Water for Elephants, This Means War)!

Now, how are you going to watch them? Redbox, Netflix, Amazon Prime? The last thing you want is to spend an hour in between the movies figuring out how to watch the movie you're planning on.

Reese's Pieces || Quinn Popcorn (I found it at Homegoods!) ||
Popping Corn || Air Popper || Graham Crackers || Nutella || Gummy Bears ||

Every movie marathon needs snacks! My favorite snack in the world is popcorn! It might be a little cliché, but movies need popcorn! If you love popcorn as much as I do, I would totally invest in an air popper. You can make a lot of popcorn and you can make it a lot healthier. Bags of popcorn with fake butter and chemicals can totally ruin your healthy routine (not that Reese's Pieces and Gummy Bears are going to help either). With air popped popcorn made on your own you can a little sea salt and have a great treat with much less sodium and fat! If you want a cheat snack, though, a little Nutella on a graham cracker is one of my favorites!

Nail Polish || Nail Kit || Ocean Coloring Book || Colored Pencils ||
Milk Bar Cookie Mix || Measuring Cups || Measuring Spoons ||
AvoBath Bomb || Shower Scrub || Peppermint Foot Cream ||

I am wayyyyy to hyper to sit still for an entire movie marathon. Plus, I would feel a little guilty at the end of the day if all I did was sit on the couch. So while watching my plethora of chick flicks I'm going to give myself a manicure! I have been obsessed with this light pink Deborah Lippmann polish!! I also scored this Lost Ocean coloring book on sale at Anthropologie, so I plan to destress with a bit of coloring in!

Then I recommend having something to do in between movies to break it up a bit and give your legs a second to stretch out! Target sells Milk Bar products and if you've ever had one of their cookies you'll know how exciting this is! Take a break and pop some cookies in the oven. Baking is super relaxing to me and you get a delicious treat afterwards. Plus, your house will smell amazing!

So now that your nails are done and your sweet tooth is satisfied it's time to pamper yourself! Before you queue up the last movie make yourself a bath, use your favorite bath bomb, exfoliate and throw on a sheet mask! It's the last step of totally decompressing and relaxing!

I hope you are staying safe in all this crazy weather! Take advantage of being stuck indoors and have some fun! Don't forget to spread a little sunlight today!

Love you lots,

Winter Whites!

Similar Dolce Vita Boots || Coach Gold Tote (old, similar) || Francesca's Earrings ||

I've always, always, always followed the "No White After Labor Day" rule. I pack up my white jeans, my skirts and shorts and pull them back out for Easter weekend. Yes, I know this fashion rule was busted years ago and white after Labor Day is totally OK now, but for some reason I just couldn't bring myself to break that one rule that I've held onto for so long. (I'm still strongly opposed to black and brown combinations.)

That all changed after I bought this scarf. It's on sale for $12 at Nordstrom and the blue and white were screaming to be paired with my white jeans and a simple white top. So I gave in and it felt great! I've seen tons of stylish people rocking their white jeans this winter and I figured, "Why not give it a go!"

Basically, I am convert and I probably won't be packing my favorite Joe's Jeans away again! Plus, I am craving spring and can't wait to get back into skirts and dresses! I'm starting to think this was my way of rebelling against the rainy Northern California winter. ;)

Love you lots,

Watching it Rain in Sunglasses

J. Crew Factory Vest  || Cream Tee || Similar J. Crew Factory Skirt ||
Hunter Wellies || Similar Black Bag || Similar DVF Sunglasses ||
Kendra Scott Necklace || Kate Spade Bangle || David Yurman Cuff ||
Michael Kors Watch || Pearl Bracelet || J. Crew Factory Earrings ||

It has been raining for what feels like forever! I can't complain. We need the rain, but at some point a girl just needs some sunshine! Then again I have endless excuses to wear my wellies...

Today, I got my wish! It rained most of the day, but the sun was shining! It was like spring had sprung and the rainbows that graced the sky were beautiful! It was a reminder that there's beauty all around us, even in the worst weather. I don't want to get too clichéd and cheesy, but after a terrible Monday and a weekend of being sick and feeling terrible it was really great to be greeted by the sun and have the chance to stand and stare at that rainbow.

Everyone gets the winter blues, but I also want everyone to have the chance to see something beautiful today. I usually like to sign off with this, but spread some sunlight today. Be the rainbow in with your friends (maybe even an acquaintance). I am sure someone is having a rough time and you can be the person that makes them smile.

So wear something you feel great in, grab your favorite treat (I got a chai latte ;) ), and take a minute to smile.

Love you lots,

The winter weather is far from gone, but the stores are stocking up with Resort and Spring 2016. I don't know about you, but I can't wear a floral chiffon skirt with out freezing my booty off! I'm still in the land of coats, scarves, gloves and boots!

The good part is that all our favorite stores are having massive sales on all their winter fashion! That coat you've been eyeing for weeks? The pink coat you weren't sure you'd wear enough? They're on super sale! So whether you want to buy a basic black coat that you can wear for years or branch out and add a pastel to your closet, now is the time!

I'm stocking up on cute scarves! Some of my favorites color combinations at Nordstrom are on sale for under $15!! And that pink felt hat is beyond cute!

Happy sale shopping! Stay cozy and warm!

Love you lots,

Fitspiration!

So if you read yesterday's post you'll know that I've been under the weather for the past few days. That means I haven't been to the gym and wasn't able to film with Matt this weekend, but I didn't want to leave you hanging on the fitness front! It's easy to let things get in your way and lose focus on why you're trying to get fit. Maybe you aren't seeing results as quickly as you'd like, or fitting it in your schedule isn't working, or maybe like me you've been sick and you're having a hard time getting back on track. Don't lose sight of why you made your New Year's resolution!

There are all kinds of ways to inspire you to work out, but I hate the idea of buying something, hanging it on your wall and looking at it every day to inspire you. Truth be told I actually used to give this advice, but a few years later I only see how detrimental that can be. Not only are you out the cash for a dress, a pair of shorts, or a bathing suit that you can't wear, but if you don't reach your goals you're just going to end up extra discouraged. So in the same thought process, pick out something that you've wanted for awhile, write it down or pin it on Pinterest. Then when you reach your goal you go out and treat yourself! This way you actually have to achieve your goal to get your prize!! It's a two for one! My treat is a new bikini, either Kiini or Triangl!

Keeping a fitness journal is a great way to keep your goals clear and track your progress. On the first page write down your fitness goals and what you want to achieve. Then write down something inspirational at the top of every page in advance. This is a great list to find ideas! Reading something productive in the morning will help remind you why you started out on this journey. Throughout the day write down your nutrition, what activity you did, and how much water you drank. At the end of the day sit and write down how you felt. Did that workout kill you? Were you starving by 2 PM? How was that sugar withdrawal headache? It might seem silly, but putting these things on paper will let you look back at what's working and what isn't. It might even provide you with a few giggles.

Every fitness magazine says this, but it actually works. Buy matching tanks or keep track of each other using an app/fitness bracelet. Having someone to keep you accountable is a huge help! Plus, turning the gym into a social setting and a night to hang out with your best gal makes going to the gym fun and not a chore. You'll have a built in spotter, you'll have someone to push you harder, and someone to pick you up when you're down. I go to spin class every Monday night with a friend and it's great! Plan to run a 5K or do a tough mudder with your friends. You'll have an end goal and a built in support group!

You can read all the fitness magazines you want and listen to that girl at work tell you all about how amazing joining her Zumba class would be, but you will never stick to a fitness routine if you don't find what you love. Do some research about the different programs in your area. This year I want to try a barre class and maybe give swimming laps a try. Over the years I've always been active and I've found that I love running and I love playing basketball (I'm actually on a team!). I've recently found that I like spin classes, but I hate yoga and anything dance related. Stick with what you like and don't let other people convince you that one workout is the only way to be healthy! Find your favorite exercise program and stick to it!

Spread some sunlight today!

Love you lots,

The Feel Better Guide

So my blog and my social media activity have sucked this week. I will be the first to admit it and I feel terrible about it, but here's the deal — cold/flu season hit me HARD!

Tuesday afternoon a sore throat started creeping up on me and then BAM I woke up Wednesday feeling awful! I tried to push through. I went to work, I went to the gym for a sweat sesh (bad idea), I took a shower and I went to bed. Bring on a sleepless night and a Thursday spent in my bed drinking hot tea, taking NyQuil and sleeping. Friday and Saturday I was on the up, but not anywhere near better. I HATE being sick. I HATE sitting still all day! Thank god for KB because I'm an awful patient. But hey, at least I admit it!

So since I am sure that I'm not the only one to be knocked on my butt this cold and flu season this is my Feel Better Guide. The things on this list are my must-haves for getting and feeling better!

Pajamas || Slippers || Blanket || The Likeness || Parenthood (Watch it on Netflix!) ||

I hope that you don't get sick this season, but just in case stock up on these must-haves now! To avoid getting sick make sure you're eating lots of Vitamin C and staying hydrated!

Love you lots,

A Friends reunion is finally happening! I am so beyond excited and will definitely be sitting on my couch Feb. 21 in total anticipation. I might even attempt to re-watch as many as I can until then!

As a celebration I wanted to recreate looks for Phoebe, Monica and Rachel that you can buy and wear now! Maybe even pick your favorite to wear during the reunion special!!

Spread some sunlight this weekend!

My Favorite Winter Meal!

I grew up eating this pot roast dinner and it was always my favorite meal! My mom would only cook it once the weather turned cold (this and her tortilla soup!), so once any bit of chill hit South Texas my fingers were crossed that she'd pull out the crockpot and make this for dinner!

Chuck Roast
2-3 yellow onions
3 cloves garlic
1 box of Swanson Beef broth
Meat tenderizer
Minced garlic
Black pepper
Bay leaves
Garlic Salt

And a Crockpot

Step 1: Season the chuck roast. Sprinkle one side with meat tenderizer, garlic salt, minced garlic and some cracked black pepper. Flip the roast over and repeat. Then place the seasoned roast into the crockpot.

Step 2: Cut the onions into chunky slices. Then layer them all around the roast. You want an even layer that completely covers the meat. Then dice up your garlic and sprinkle it into the crockpot.

Sidenote: Does anyone else have a hard time with onions? My eyes burn for like an hour after I have to cut one. I can be in a different room and they will start burning if someone is cooking in the kitchen! I won't even be cutting them or near them!

Step 3: Add a few bay leaves. I used three because that's what came out of the jar, it's completely up to you! To be honest, I've cooked this without the bay leaves and haven't noticed much of a difference. In my opinion it just makes it look pretty!

Step 4: Pour in the beef stock. You want the meat to be mostly covered. If I cook a larger roast I usually need more than one box of stock. This was a small one, so one box was perfect!

Tip: When the roast is finished don't dump out the broth! We pour it off into a tupperware and put it in the fridge. The next day just scrape off the fat layer that forms into the trash. The stock will have a ton of added flavor from the onions and makes an amazing base for vegetable soup later on!

Step 5: Set the crockpot to cook on low. That's it! You're done!

I prepped this in the morning, it took maybe ten minutes and then I got dressed and went to work! Ours cooked for about 8 1/2 hours. I like to aim for at least six, but I wouldn't go more than 9 hours.

WARNING: Your whole house will smell like you're an amazing cook when you get home from work! It's a great way to trick your guests, boyfriend/girlfriend, friends!

I served ours with baked sweet potato fries and Brussel sprouts! Just slice the sweet potato into sticks and lay them out in one layer on half of a lined cookie sheet. Then halve the Brussel sprouts and spread them out on the other side. Drizzle the vegetables with EVOO and sprinkle both with a little Cajun seasoning (I like this one), garlic salt and cracked black pepper! Two sides and only one cookie sheet to clean up!

Make this for company or make a small one for yourself! The leftovers are just as tasty!

Love you lots,
